Over 30 years ago, Kermit Carpenter went out looking for a new adventure in Key West, where he discovered the perfect pairing: key lime and gourmet food. In 1994, he opened Kermit's Key Lime Shop, a charming little shop dedicated to iconic key lime pie, nestled at the corner of Elizabeth and Greene Streets. 

Over the years, Kermit has transformed his humble shop into a local legend, expanding his offerings to include world-famous chocolate key lime pie bars, irresistible key lime cookies, and a variety of mouthwatering snacks. With a second location on bustling Duval Street, Kermit's reputation in Key West only grew, but it was always the key lime pie that remained at the heart of it all.

In 2023, an exciting chapter began when Byrd Cookie Company, a beloved family owned business with a rich 100 year old legacy, teamed up with Kermit's. The relationship was a natural fit, proving that the tradition of "baking memories for years to come" remains fundamental.

As the iconic Key West original continues to grow, these two legendary brands will carry the tradition forward, ensuring that for the next 30 years and beyond, the world will know: “It’s Always Pie-O-Clock Somewhere!"
